The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan has condemned missile and drone attacks allegedly carried out by Iran against several countries in the Middle East and beyond. In a press statement issued on March 6 and published on the ministry’s official Facebook page, the government said the attacks targeted friendly nations including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Türkiye, Cyprus, and Azerbaijan. The ministry described the strikes as “unjustifiable,” saying the targeting of energy facilities, residential areas and supply routes through the Strait of Hormuz threatens regional stability and violates international law. According to the statement, such actions contravene the principles of the United Nations Charter and other regional legal frameworks governing relations between states. The Government of South Sudan also expressed support for statements previously issued by Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and António Guterres. Both leaders had earlier raised concerns about the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Juba said it remains concerned about peace and stability in the Gulf region and globally, while acknowledging the resilience of the people and governments of the affected countries.
