President Salva Kiir has directed Vice President James Wani Igga to align government priorities to maintain stability and address economic pressures, including inflation. Kiir issued the directive on Monday after receiving a briefing from Dr Igga at the State Secretariat. According to a statement from the Office of the President, Dr Igga, who also chairs the Economic Cluster, briefed Kiir on the general situation in the country. The briefing focused on economic, political, and security developments. The Vice President also updated the President on ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy, address security concerns, and strengthen the political environment ahead of the upcoming general elections. Dr Igga further highlighted efforts to address internal matters within the SPLM, including plans to reorganize and strengthen grassroots mobilization across the country. Kiir returned to the country after a visit to South Africa, where he held talks with President Cyril Ramaphosa. Following the trip, he directed the Vice President to align government priorities, particularly on strategies to maintain stability and address economic pressures, including inflation. Kiir emphasized the need for coordinated efforts across all government institutions to ensure effective implementation of agreed measures.
