Officials stated that the review focused on individuals detained for minor offenses and those eligible for release under bail conditions. As a result of the March 19th visit, the Chief Administrator ordered the release of 15 inmates. The government paid the fines of the selected individuals to facilitate their discharge from the facility. Authorities stated that the pardons are part of efforts to manage justice, reduce congestion in detention facilities, and support individuals accused of minor crimes. Community members in Pibor noted that the intervention reduces pressure on the prison system and provides offenders an opportunity to return to the community.
