2026-03-05 - 08:17

The Governor of Central Equatoria State has ordered an immediate halt to the issuance of plot documents in Nyamini area of Juba County following a dispute between local communities. Emmanuel Adil Anthony Wani said the directive took effect on Monday, 2nd March 2026. Governor Adil said the decision was made based on the powers conferred upon him by Republican Decree No. 408/2025 issued by the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit. He said the order is aimed at maintaining peace and helping resolve the dispute between the affected communities. The directive also instructs the State Security Committee, led by the Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, to engage the two communities and mediate the ongoing land disagreement. Governor Adil warned that any individual found issuing land documents despite the ban will face legal action. The Commissioner of Juba County has been tasked with implementing the order immediately and ensuring that all relevant officials comply. The directive comes amid rising tensions over land ownership in Nyamini, with both communities claiming rights to the disputed plots.
