The Governor of Central Equatoria has directed the newly established State Mining Authority to regulate mining activities, curb illegal extraction, and ensure environmental safety and proper licensing. Emmanuel Adil Anthony gave the directive on Monday, 02-03-2026 while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the authority’s leadership in Juba. Dabe Francis Elisama Murye was sworn in as Commissioner General, while Taban Clement Oliver took the oath of office as Deputy Commissioner General. Governor Adil urged the new leadership to work closely with the National Ministry of Mining and the State Ministry of Trade and Industry to provide policy guidance and identify untapped mineral resources in Central Equatoria. “Proper management of our mining sector can help generate revenue to fund essential infrastructure projects, including schools, hospitals, and roads,” Governor Adil said. In his acceptance speech, Commissioner General Dabe pledged to ensure accountability and effective operations to serve the public interest. The ceremony was attended by senior state officials, including the Deputy Governor, the Ministers of Cabinet Affairs, Finance, Planning and Investment, Trade and Industry, and community representatives.
