Authorities in Tonj South County of Warrap State have arrested five suspects and recovered two rifles and 57 goats following a raid targeting the Ambororo community. The Ambororo are a nomadic community from Sudan and the Central African Republic who migrate to parts of South Sudan in search of pasture for their cattle. Tonj South County Commissioner John Ayitiak Warwien said the arrests followed an attack by armed men on members of the Ambororo community on Wednesday in Lachok village of War-Cok Payam. Commissioner Ayitiak said the attackers escaped with 57 goats, one million South Sudan Pounds, two AK-47 rifles, two blankets, and two bags. He said security forces were immediately deployed and conducted intensive patrols in Lachok and nearby areas, leading to the interception and arrest of the suspects. The commissioner urged parents to guide their children away from violence and criminal activities, warning that such acts threaten peace and coexistence in the county. According to him, the five suspects are being held in police custody pending legal proceedings, while the recovered items have been handed back to Chief Hammad Clifa and the Ambororo community.
