Envoy Adut discusses infrastructure and welfare at University of Juba

JUBA, South Sudan (Eye Radio) – The Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, Adut Kiir, held discussions with the leadership of the University of Juba on Wednesday to address infrastructure improvements and staff welfare. During a meeting with Vice Chancellor Professor John Akec, the envoy focused on strategies to strengthen higher education within the country. Adut Kiir toured the university’s administrative offices and facilities to assess the current state of the infrastructure. A statement following the visit noted that while some facilities remain functional, others require urgent renovation to serve the student body and faculty better. Professor Akec briefed the envoy on several projects initiated in previous years that remain incomplete due to funding challenges. He emphasised that completing these projects is essential to improving the learning environment at the institution. In response, the Senior Presidential Envoy acknowledged the university’s difficulties. Adut Kiir emphasised the importance of supporting higher learning institutions, highlighting the need to improve lecturers’ welfare and strengthen the overall academic environment.
