Uncertainty continues to surround the release of South Sudan’s Senior Four examination results, as officials cite a significant funding gap affecting the education sector. Lokangi Imoya Lutina, who sits on the Parliamentary Specialized Committee on General Education, said the delay in processing and announcing the results is largely due to limited budget disbursement. According to the lawmaker, although approximately 32 billion South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) was allocated to the education sector, only 2 billion SSP has so far been released, leaving critical activities underfunded. “The funds released have not been sufficient to support key education priorities, including teacher training and examination processes,” she said. “As a result, the Senior Four results remain pending, and we are uncertain about when they will be announced.” Lokangi warned that the delay is causing growing anxiety among students and parents, while also posing serious risks to learners’ academic progression. She noted that without the timely release of results, students may miss out on university admissions and international scholarship opportunities that depend on official transcripts. “We are concerned about how transcripts will be handled if results are not released soon,” she added. “This situation is already affecting students’ chances for further education.” The MP further pointed to delays in the release of capitation grants and other education funding as compounding challenges within the sector. She has called on the government, particularly the Ministry of Finance, to urgently prioritize the disbursement of funds to ensure that examination marking is completed and results are released without further delay. Education observers warn that continued uncertainty could undermine confidence in the national examination system and disrupt the academic calendar for thousands of candidates across the country.
